July 31: The week ahead

Here is what we will be watching this week:

Council will emerge from its Summer break on August 16, so things remain a bit slow at City hall.  There are a few interesting meetings scheduled for the coming weeks:

Planning Commission’s Text Change Committee meets on Tuesday, August 2 at 4:00 pm.  They will be discussing TC-2-21 related to parking deck screening.  This text change is intended to address aesthetic concerns related to the appearance of “pedestal” buildings (buildings that sit on top of multi-level parking decks).  The other item on the agenda is TC-18-21 and relates to Accessory Structures and Accessory Dwelling Units. The text change is intended to resolve some conflicts between dimensional regulations applicable to Accessory Dwelling Units and Accessory Structures. Here is a link to both agenda items and related backup materials.

Raleigh is holding an open house on August 6 for anyone interested in learning about the City’s resources and efforts to housing affordability.  Here are the details.
