May 28: RaleighForward in the news

As a follow up to RaleighForward’s recent post about the risks of antagonizing the NC General Assembly, The Assembly published a fascinating story exploring how the NC General Assembly went about punishing UNC’s Law School — arguably in response to Gene Nichols’ vociferous criticisms. “The Prophet and the Backlash.” Whether or not you agree with Professor Nichols, it raises important issues to consider when public officials act in ways that could antagonize the Republican leadership in the NC General Assembly.

For the second time in recent months, Eric Braun, the Founder of RaleighForward, has been quoted in an IndyWeek article. In February, the publication quoted from a newsletter post regarding City Council’s trend of deferring rezoning cases and the risk of “paralysis by analysis.” More recently, he was quoted in a story about several City Councilors using social media to promote rent control legislation that has little chance of passing.
